That seems a little extreme but I generally think highly of CDD other than their massive over media reaction to a one year US News Rankings drop — which simply just drew more attention the the drop and that VU cares what some old dude who keeps making data-science massive screw ups places them at.

I’d probably give him an A- and extend to 2030, but we sure do love contract extensions!

Dear Vanderbilt community,

On behalf of the Vanderbilt University Board of Trust, I am pleased to announce the extension of Chancellor Daniel Diermeier’s contract through 2035.

Although Chancellor Diermeier’s contract was not set to expire until 2027, his steady and visionary leadership over the past four years has put Vanderbilt on solid footing to thrive.

Alone, this is notable and commendable, but in a higher education landscape facing crisis after crisis, Chancellor Diermeier has delivered meaningful, tangible results in a short time—and has demonstrated the leadership skills necessary to lead us “forward ever” over the long term.

We are looking ahead to even bolder growth initiatives that will expand Vanderbilt’s global presence, accelerate its growth in teaching and research, and position it to become the great research university of the 21st century.

I look forward to daring to grow with each and every one of you—our global, One Vanderbilt community—in the years to come.

Sincerely,

Bruce Evans
Chairman, Vanderbilt University Board of Trust
