Since we have a lot of various sports discussed OT, and Vanderbilt is in the United States....
This is historically the South American championship, which has been opened at various times to various North American teams too. They actually let the US host it in preparation for the tri-hosted World Cup in 2026. Since it's the only challenging tournament left for us to participate in before 2026 -- the North American regional championship is pretty crappy, although at times we manage not to win it including last time around, and friendlies are friendlies -- this is sort of a last competitive tune-up for two years.
Uruguay, despite about half the population of Tennessee, is a historical world power who's been resurgent and is sort of a trendy pick to win this tournament over larger nations like Argentina (reigning world champion ::vomit:: ) Brazil, and Colombia. This is the final of 3 games in the group stage, in Kansas City, and the US has put their backs against the wall by losing the other night to Panama. Top two advance from the group, and technically they could even lose and come in 2nd.
Game kicks off at 8 pm CDT on FS1.

- If we win, we probably make it unless Panama beats Bolivia by at least 2 more.
- If we tie, we need Panama to tie or lose.
- If we lose, it needs to be fairly close, and we also need Panama to lose. But Bolivia has been really bad so far.
