There have been some crazy rumors swirling around about NIL money, mega donations from certain high-profile people, all sorts of stuff.
So with that, I checked in on the "official" amount and I think that's still a seven-figure number, probably pretty close to eight figures.
But as someone else told me last night (and I wish I could remember the exact quote) but it was something along the lines of "the total amount is immaterial" with an explanation that there's enough money standing by for whatever the need may be.
A separate industry source texted me this morning and it read exactly this: "I've talked to several people this morning... no exact number, but they know they have raised a ton of money in the last two weeks, enough to be on par with most of the league."
The other thought is that this happened so late in the cycle (forget the portal, the "pre-portal" is where much of this gets done) that it may not be as effective as it would be next year.
But word is getting around that they're a player and if they keep this up, this staff will either figure out how to be competitive or with that kind of money, they'll find a staff that can.
The big question at this point is, how big an obstacle is or isn't admissions. Allegedly that will improve but I have no idea what that means as I haven't really dug in on that side of things yet but I will.
