With Vanderbilt being in Columbia, South Carolina over the weekend for their game against the Gamecocks, defensive backs coach Brett Maxie and safeties coach Marc Mattioli were able to travel to South Pointe (S.C.) high school and evaluate their three-star 2016 defensive back Nick McCloud.
They came away impressed and extended an offer to the 6-foot-3, 175-pound prospect.
McCloud told me he was excited to get his first SEC offer, but admits he doesn't know much about the Commodores. However, he is planning to visit Nashville next weekend for the Missouri game.
He picked up a recent offer from N.C. State and lists West Virginia and Northwester as other programs he is seriously considering at this point.
McCloud also said that Coach Maxie is who he's been in contact with the most on the coaching staff and that Maxie likes how long he is and his ability to move with his length.
