The other day I was on a tram in Munich, when a man got on wearing a Star V hat. I asked him in German "excuse me, sir, are you from Tennessee?" He responded in German "my son is". I realised this wasn't the first language for either of us, but awkwardly carried on telling him that this was my university, to which he responded "gut".
