Here are some notes on a few prospects that Vanderbilt has appeared to reach out to in regards to potentially coming in for a visit this weekend.
West Bloomfield (Mich.) defensive tackle Eddy Wilson informed us that the Vanderbilt coaching staff has reached out to his head coach about him and he intends to talk with Vanderbilt directly at some point on Tuesday. Wilson is a three-star prospect who just committed to Purdue on January 17th and also has offers from Pitt, Iowa, Akron, Central Michigan, and others. Wilson also told me he is also hearing from Michigan and Michigan State as well.
Three-star Dallas (Tex.) Skyline defensive tackle and longtime Rice commit Zach Abercrumbia could also be a possibility. He was offered by the Commodores back in April and could be an avenue the Commodores reacquaint themselves with.
A relative unknown that could also emerge is Tevita Tauteoli, an offensive guard/defensive tackle out of Hunter High School in Utah. I talked with him tonight and he has started to have some conversations with DL coach Frank Maile. He's listed at 6-foot-4, 315-pounds and has offers from Weber State and Idaho (yes, I know, not an eyebrow raiser). However, something could develop there between him and Vanderbilt.
As far as running backs go, keep an eye on Saguaro (Ariz.) three-star prospect KamRon Johnson, who told me tonight that Vanderbilt has reached out to him and that he may get a visit from the coaching staff sometime this week. He rushed for 1,291 yards and 20 touchdowns on just 104 carries while also playing strong safety for his team. Johnson is considering Montana and Nevada at the moment, but if Vanderbilt extends an offer that will be game changer. He is also the teammate of 5-star WR and one time Vanderbilt target Christian Kirk.
