After Saturday’s football games I have intentional avoided all sources of information and analysis. I must say that I have entered this new work week with a wonderful disposition. The point is for the following to be taken knowing I have not had any external input on sports to influence my thoughts.

·Just imagine if the Arkansas fan base is anything like the Vandy fan base how awful that must be for everyone associated with their program.

·I think we can also say the same for Notre Dame, Auburn, and to some degree South Carolina.

·It is a darn shame that Rocky Top is improving…both on the field and with officiating. That said it is terrific they lost.

·Those that have previously discussed Houston’s coach are definitely on to something. Of course, I suspect the entrance standards he has to follow are quite a bit different than Vandy; so the coach can decide to “lock up” recruiting in his city and make it stick grabbing 5 star recruits from other Texas schools and the likes of LSU. Dont think he would be able to do that at Vandy which I am grateful for.

·Hugh Freeze and his Rebels…sorry…Black Bears….are going to suffer a massive attack of Karma, perhaps this Saturday at the hands of Alabama. Reminds me of Bear Bryant calling timeout with little time left to let his third string score against Vandy when the game was already way out of hand. Poor sportsmanship at best.

·Which brings me to Mark Richt….I have always appreciated him….and hope they win the east and upset the west in the SEC championship.

·I am very proud of the effort by Vanderbilt’s football team against Georgia. Georgia may very well be the best I have seen in years. Without Grantham at the helm the defense is very good. The offense has the potential to be balanced and works to the traditional strengths including another stable of ridiculous running backs.

·I still cannot comprehend the media on several fronts:

oFinebaum----once an A**, always an A**. I believe Vandy, a full member of the SEC who pays the salary of the SEC network team, should make sure he never sets foot on campus again and never is granted an interview with anyone associated with the school.

oWhat did you expect a starting offensive lineman to say when asked the stupid question about which running back you would like to play with. Do you really expect him to answer “Nick Chubb…he is the greatest” to the detriment of his teammate. PLEASE ask decent questions and stop insulting everyone with your ignorance. And then why plaster it on your CBS telecast without placing it in context.

oCBS---the only tradition you can think of for Vandy is that you have snubbed them since 1955? Really…. there had to be something positive that could be highlighted.

oGary Danielson – I have appreciated you for years….but to argue that targeting was not committed by the Georgia player is outrageous. I am sure your stats told you 98% of the viewers were Georgia fans, which does not excuse the analysis.

·The aerial shots of Vanderbilt Stadium highlighted the problem oh so well….those who purchased the expensive seats staying away just like they do for many basketball and baseball games…IF YOU BUY THE SEATS SHOW UP and support the team. Note; this is not to be highjacked into a thread on the product, the coach, blah, blah, blah.

·I cannot begin to put myself in Coach Mason or Coach Ludwig’s shoes. I will continue to support them as I see light at the end of the tunnel. Unfortunately that light is not this year.

oUsually if a player does not perform well enough to at least not hurt the team, you replace him. It is part of any team that the best combination of players are put together so the best outcome can be achieved. For anyone to suggest Vanderbilt’s quarterback stable was left intact by the former coach is insane. Perhaps the plan was for AJ Carta-Samuals to be the guy if he actually showed up….now however the coaches apparently have little in the way of options. Continuing to play someone who directly costs your team points by throwing into double and triple coverage over and over again is beyond comprehension.

·I look forward to next Saturday as several intriguing games are on the schedule. Will Georgia finally overcome the South Carolina jinx? What will happen with Auburn/LSU? Will Alabama spank Mississippi? For me it all starts at Vanderbilt stadium supporting Vandy….
