I watched alot of games that Vince Young played in 2005 at Texas and there are some things about Mike Wright that remind me of Vince. NOT saying he is going to be the same caliber of college player (VY should've won the Heisman that year ) but I see some things in common. Vince was not a great passer but his legs were too much for defenses to handle. You had to account for him at all times which was a nightmare for opposing defenses. If you didn't he would torch you. He was not a great passer but could make the throws he needed to. He also was a great leader in college (not so much in the NFL). His teammates fed off of his confidence. VY also was pretty mediocre his first year playing, got alot better his 2nd year and was unstoppable in his third year (completion % went from 58% to 65%).
Mike seems to have a similar leadership quality to him - he seems to energize guys around him. His legs are a problem for defenses and open up the other guys because the D has to account for him. He is not a great thrower but you can try to avoid NFL throws as a OC with him. He is about 30 Lbs lighter than VY but faster (young was crazy fast for a dude 6'5 230).
Not saying Mike will have the same success (Vince also had Jamaal charles) but I saw some things out of Mike the other night that made me intrigued. Interested to see how he progresses and how they can scheme the offense around his abilities. My concern is if our Oline can be decent against SEC opponents. If not, Mike (or anyone else) wont really have a chance.
