About the "game" . . ..what say you?

  • The Wolverines shoot "3's" at a 34.6% clip (Let's hope the UM players do not "love" the sightlines within Memorial Gym.);
  • Common Opponents: Beat Pitt by 31 and lost to UK by 4 (Yes, I know the transitive property does not apply to athletics.);
  • Dickenson at 7'1" 265 pounds will be a load for the Dores to match up with . . . another post-Robbins challenge . . . think someone who averages 1 more point per game, 1.5 more rebounds per game but 1.7 fewer blocks per game and shoots 8% point higher from "3" than Robbins;
  • UM's two guards . . . a freshman and a sophomore . . . are almost mirror images of Manjon (yes, quick and undersized like Filet) and Lawrence (yes, even a left hander with an eerily similar game to Tyrin) . . . let's hope our experience gives us a slight edge here; and
  • if, and that's a big if, we can not get crushed at the center position, then the play of the forwards will be key, although like so many college teams, UM plays three guards a lot . . . got to avoid Joey Baker going off for more than 20 like he did versus Toledo and Wright must have a better game than he did versus Yale or we will be "toast";
  • neither team has an advantage off the bench, in my view, as UM's contributors are primarily role player types similar to VU's.
I don't have a good feeling about this one because a performance similar to that versus Yale will get us a loss, e.g., too many turnovers, too many near turnovers, too much reliance on Ezra and Tyrin, very little from the bench.
