First off, what a beautiful day on campus. Vandy was hosting Mizzou in baseball, the game looked sold out. #19 ranked Vandy was hosting Auburn in tennis just across the street with a good crowd there too. While those two events were happening, thousands of Vanderbilt and Dayton fans were buzzing their way to Memorial.
The energy in the gym was good early thanks to the students and as the game progressed, everyone was in on the act.
We sat in 3J and had a blast cheering on the Dores. Wife and kids loved it and were so happy to win. I tried to explain to my kids that is how that gym was for years and that we got so spoiled because most of the time, we left the gym with a W.
After the game, pretty much everyone stayed to salute the players and coaches. The players did a victory lap to high-five the fans and students all around the gym. Yesterday was one of the more memorable games at Memorial, it served as a little reminder that we have one of the best gyms in college basketball and it was fun to put it to good use.
