I was watching CFB live or something and one of the guys was talking about Texas football. Now Texas is just about as bad as we are with no hope in sight for the immediate future. Instead of them laughing and such as the Media does when they talk about Vanderbilt, they go on this "give them time" and "they are building" campaign. We are actually showing more promise than Texas right now, but you wouldn't know it if you only watch TV (as I'm sure a lot of recruits and potential fans do).

The local media consistently mocks an SEC program (in their own back yard) in favor of another SEC program that is 3 hours away. I understand that the Vawls generate more of rating for radio, but as we have been shown by instate rivalries throughout the SEC, if both teams in your state are elite, that's better for everyone.

So my question is, how is it constructive and profitable to constantly mock and ridicule a program that is in your city/conference (knowing the impact media can have in growing a program) when it is apparent that said program needs more support to reach the level that its Media Market has the ability to support?

How about instead of pointing out how horrible a program is, start talking about what said program needs to do to improve. Vanderbilt Football needs an exciting offense that scores points to support its traditionally capable Defense, followed by its Major US City (in which it resides) to provide a home field advantage that is acceptable for the conference in which it plays. Lets talk a little more about that and get this program to where it should be as a FOUNDING member of the SEC.
