For those with the interest, or desire to beat a dead horse, or a need to get frustrated again . . . how about a look at some men's basketball stats vs. last year [of course, recognizing full year vs 2/3 of a season; minus Siakam plus Cressler and modest minutes played by the freshmen; a team one year older, very tough schedule vs. not as tough a schedule]:

  • 14th in the nation in 3 pt FG % [40.1%] (really good) but only 177th in 3 pt attempts (at the 50% level in attempts) which means less reliance on the 3 and/or a slower paced offense and/or too many possessions resulting in no shot attempt [Last year @ 39.2%] [This year better despite Luke's decline of 15% + and Cressler's inaccuracy]
  • 23rd in points per shot [We hit a lot of 3's relative to the total # of shots taken.]
  • 190th in the nation in 2 pt FG% (not real good): Jones @ 55% [same as last year]; Roberson @ 52% [real good]; Kornet @ 50% [but down from 63% in 2014-15]; Cressler (yes, Cressler) @ 49%; Baldwin @ 48%; LaChance @ 38% and MFD @ 34% (Believe or not, a 20% + improvement for MFD, although not a lot of shots) - - Team @ 48.6% vs last year's mark of 51.8% [Why? Subtract Siakam and Luke/LaChance "declines]
  • Blocks: Team @ 19th in the nation
  • FT's: 70.1% this year vs. 70.8% last year
  • Did not look at TO's and Assists
