Took a 33 pt performance from Garland to win at Memorial by 9 over Liberty.
And yes I know you can’t just compare scores, and VU would of been better offensively with Garland, but I’m sorry I completed disagree that this was anywhere close to a top 20 team with DG. He wasn’t going to help their defense.
I’ve got real up close seats tonight to see the teams. Just one example of many, but KY gets a simple pick and roll and no hedge, and Lee can’t even stay with his man. And there is no reason Lee shouldn’t be able to be an awesome defender.
KY was terrible at defense to start the yr. VU can get no separation from Ky. I don’t like Calapari at all, but he’s a great defensive coach.
The 16/17 was a good defensive team because of Kornet. The 06/07 team was flat out a good defensive team because of the way they played, communicated, and effort. Outside of those two teams VU has always been a weak defensive team for some reason or another. (Or a lot weaker than they should)
