Vanderbilt coach Jerry Stackhouse met with the media Friday morning to preview Saturday's road game at Mississippi State.

Here's some notes from Stackhouse's availability ...

– There's definitely adjustments to be made from the first meeting with Mississippi State. They shot the ball extremely well and made a lot of shots. Our pick-and-roll coverage has to be better. Tolu Smith is a load in the paint. He's a threat for his individual matchup.

Jordan Wright is confident and has been able to get out there and have some success. He's had a number of good plays around the basket. It's continuing to coach him so he can make the right decisions. He's doing a good job.

Clevon Brown had a couple really good days of practice leading up to the Auburn game. We thought it was a great opportunity to insert him into the starting lineup and he did a nice job. He suffered a minor injury in that game and has been taking it easy in practice.

– We know who we are and where we are. Our offense failed us last game and we had some careless turnovers, and we were bad at the free-throw line. But, it was one of our best defensive outings of the season. It was just bad timing for us not to make shots. You'll have nights like that.

– The team has been working together and is excited for the next game. They'd like to get some wins and still have a high confidence level at this point.

– It's about following the game plan. It's a make-and-miss league. We have to run our stuff and execute. We'd love to have the same defensive effort that we had last game. That'll give us a chance for a road win.
