I think we all pretty much agree that Rivera-Torres is a guy we want on our roster next year. Speed of the game has been an issue with JRT this year, ball handling has been an issue, and making mistakes on defense has kept him off the court at times. Shooting is what got him minutes and kept him on the floor, probably longer than Stack thought at times.

Fast forward to SEC play and I think it’s clear that JRT has hit the wall. While his play has been more consistent, he simply cannot buy a bucket at this point. In SEC play, Jason is 7/37 (18.9%) from 3 and 25/76 (32.9%) from the field overall. The problem is that over the last 6 SEC games, he’s really really struggled (3/18 from 3 and 5/36 from the field). JRT hasn’t made a shot in the last 4 games (0/15).

So what is going on?

Freshman Wall? Probably

When he proved he could score against Bama, teams took note and the scouting report quickly became, don’t let that guy have an inch of space. It sort of got in his head and now like a young QB getting sacked, he’s “seeing ghosts.”

Regardless, I keep waiting for him to resurface. I hope it’s Saturday at UTjr.

Anybody have any thoughts?
