#1 LSU and #2 VU (according to D1 Baseball Poll) both played little brother (Tulane and MTSU) and had almost identical scores. LSU won 13-7 and we won 12-7. Also, Florida beat Stetson 9-6.

In other games, big brother did not fare so well. The Gamecocks lost the the Chanticleers 9-8 (11 innings), South Alabama blanked Bama 3-0, Western beat UK 12-3, Mercer beat UGA 12-8, and Southern Miss beat Miss State 3-0.

Moving on, Arkansas Pine Bluff beat Missouri, 8-3, Memphis beat Arkansas 5-4, and Ole Miss dropped a pair of 7 inning games to UAB.

So, Vanderbilt, LSU and Florida were the only SEC teams to win tonight.

UVA was ranked right below us in the preseason polls. They have fallen to #18 and just lost to Georgetown 1-0. I have to admit, if you asked me if Georgetown had a baseball team I would have bet $100 they did not. UVA was swept by VA Tech a couple of weeks ago. Wow.

I am feeling pretty good about out-slugging MTSU tonight.
