A couple of things that I came across today. that perhaps I missed earlier in the week:

Western players stated that they knew exactly what was coming. Nick Holt, a linebacker said "they ran the exact same play that offensive coordinator has run for years for two-point conversions...We had the perfect call and we sat right on it."

Also, Mason stated after the game that he believed that Marcus may have ran his route too shallow rather than stretching it into the end zone (which is what I thought). However, Ludwig said "it was a good route, but the throw is what slowed the tight end down in the flat. He had to turn his shoulders for it, which takes away his ability to run after the catch."

Any thoughts on either of these situations? Anyone follow Ludwig enough before he came to VU to know if he ran that play with regularity? Was it a good route and bad pass, bad route and bad pass, good pass and bad route, or good pass and good route, with the defense just making a really good play? I still believe the pass was good, but that it was a poor route, as I have always been taught on that kind of play that you need to run the route at least level with the goal line, so that you can't be stopped short of it.
