I was very much "wait and see"

I was obviously in the "wait and see" camp for the past several months. I viewed it as pragmatic as much as loyal. What else was I do to do? Take up sackcloth and ashes or parade around the West End in mourning attire?

I waited, and now I've seen. I'm afraid I agree very firmly with Warrik that this staff doesn't get the details of what it takes to win football games at this level. X's and O's they've got. Ability to get a team to execute? It's lacking, and when you're as thin on the ground offensively as we are, there's no margin for error.

WKU actually looked like an undisciplined, impulsive team last night. They lacked focus at times and gave away a string of penalties that would've had send a moving van to the Mason home. Yet they have a dangerous offense and ability to win games that we lack. That hides a lot of underlying ills.

Even with my wait and see attitude, I never saw Mason as being anything more than an adequate head coach, sort of a Bobby Johnson with a better defensive mind. Now I'm afraid I don't know if he'll get to that point, and if it's clear he won't, why keep him around.

Derek Mason Walking may be the sad title of the remainder of this season.
