I’m not convinced this team is much better than last years team or that Clark is gonna work out here. But I will give him credit for changing the culture this offseason. A lot has been made of Clark’s approach to this rebuild, in terms of him being very philosophical, very counselor like to the players, and then you’ve had people like Kaelene Curry on staff to help with that. I think that was very needed after all the stuff guys went through at the end of Mason’s tenure and I don’t blame him for thinking this was a program in need of healing mentally.

But at a certain point, it’s about winning football games, and to do that anywhere, especially when against the odds at a place like Vandy, you’ve really gotta sac up and go win a battle against your opponent. For that you need guys who are tough as nails, guys who are fighters. When I think of guys like Joey Lynch, Aj Blazek, Seals, Swann, I think of really nice guys. But when I think of guys like Tim Beck, Jerry Kill, Diego Pavia, I think of guys who are fighters, and guys who are tough.

I think that’s the obvious reason why Clark is trying to make us the Vanderbilt Aggies, because he realizes that’s what this program needs
