Starting pitching has been discussed on other threads, but I'm wondering about several position players for this weekend. Let me throw out a few ideas for discussion.
1. Jayden Davis can go back to 2nd base, but he needs to be watched closely for any problems. His previous injury was just too severe to take any risks.
2. If Davis goes back to 2nd, then RJ Austin can return to his job as the teams' Swiss Army Knife. RJ can go back to 1st, or I would consider putting him back in the OF with Polk and Hewitt. I think that gives us the best combo of speed and experience in the OF.
3. Braden Holcomb delivered in Hoover. He would be in my lineup on Friday. He can play 1st, or he can take over the DH spot.
4. Vastine, Diaz, and Espinal will all start, but batting order may need some tweeking.
5. Barczi, Kozeal, LaNeve, Rogers, Bulger, and Humphrey could each be a valuable tool when considering righty/lefty matchups at the plate and/or in Humphrey's case speed on the base paths or in the OF.
