I’m not sure just how many of you understand how big of a win that is but that team should probably beat us down who we are down.
The Langley twins are legit, especially #0. Brown-Jones was ready from the tip and had 24. They had 3-4 other guys that were very good offensive players.
For us, we came out aggressive and energetic. We clearly wanted this one and played extremely well in stretches.
Game balls:
Colin Smith made shots early to get us going and ended up with 11 huge rebounds.
Filet Manjon is just a beast, no other way to put it. We have a dude that everyone wants.
Evan Taylor has been pretty bad through 2 games but he earned his scholarship tonight with 6 huge late points, a floater in the lane and 4 huge free throws. You can see him starting to get comfortable here.
JQ Robert’s got hops. Those clown refs calling his block a goaltend was one of many terrible calls or no calls from them. JQ is an athlete.
JR-T, when he sees a few 3’s go in, watch out. He does some things that project him as an NBA player (length on defense and creating his own shot). He had one move in the first half along the UNCG bench and he was getting chirped at big time, he nails it and immediately gives it right back to them. I’m a fan of his game, huge upside.
Isiah West is a very mature freshman. He’s strong and defends with physicality. He needs to refine his shooting mechanics but he has a chance to be a very nice player.
Paul Lewis played a bad game but I like his game. Glad his stinker came in a win.
Lang, all I can say is that these minutes could be really good for him down the road.
Presley is going to be good but he has freshmanitis.
Tasos did his thing, brought energy and scoring. He probably took a few shots I would prefer him to pass on but he’s still figuring out his role and did well enough.
Overall, beating a very good and likely NCAAt team down 3 of our top 6 or 7 guys is a big deal.
Hope y’all enjoyed that one.
