Interesting Twitter thread on Gordon Sargent and his chances for earning a PGA tour card right out of school. There’s a breakdown in that thread of how points are earned & if he gets to 20 before his junior year, he gets a tour card. He’s at 12 right now. He’ll get another when he plays the Masters, 1 more if he makes the cut, and 2 more if he finishes Top 20. I’m sure he’ll play the Walker Cup this summer, which is 2 more. So he’s penciled in at 15. If he makes the cut at the Masters, he only needs 4 more points. He’s probably the favorite for all the major college golf awards this year too, which are 3 points each. So I think it’s more likely than not that he gets a PGA tour card by the end of his junior year.
