I'm not trying to belabor a point. I promise! I am just interested in analyzing our progress to see if there is hope going forward both this year and beyond.
2015 (5 games): 45th - total 412, passing 255.4, rushing 157.0, 21.2 (#41 passing, #91 rushing)
2014 (11 games): 125th - total 288, passing 179.1, rushing 109.3, 17.2 (#107 passing, #116 rushing)
These are just stats, but they speak volumes to me. We need to score more points, no doubt. Turnovers have cost us dearly here...multiple turnovers in scoring position. But the improvement is not only huge, we are also well above average nationally in yards per game. Who would have thought that? Not me. Far from it. Especially after losing Jelks, Duncan, etc. I thought moving the ball would be our number one flaw again this season. I didn't follow Vandy in 1974. So these big yardage numbers are new to me. We all realize that Mason is the real deal defensively. But I'm gonna go ahead and give Ludwig real deal status as well. That much progress from a dumpster fire last year is a shock to me.
There is good reason for hope going forward.
