1. The SEC struggles:Had Mother Nature not intervened and given Vanderbilt a bit of a gift in not having to face Cal State Fullerton ace Thomas Eshelman (four hits, eight strikeouts on Sunday) the last few innings, we could have been looking at the SEC at 1-5 so far. Even still, a 2-4 mark is a little surprising. LSU will have to beat Fullerton to avoid having the conference with two two-and-out teams for the first time since 2004 when, ironically, those same two teams were both eliminated in two games.

4. The rematch:In the winner's bracket game, TCU will face off with Vanderbilt for the second time this season. Back in early March the Horned Frogs took a tight 4-2 win in the Dodgertown Classic at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles. At the time both teams were ranked No. 1 in different polls and Preston Morrison outdueled Philip Pfeifer. Both teams have yet to name a starter; Morrison threw in the win over LSU but Pfeifer is available and was the team's Saturday starter down the regular-season stretch.
