Ha, it really was.
We are so screwed with Carter Lang as our primary post player. The guy is fine as a 3rd string center, maybe playing 5-7 minutes a game for fouls or just to give the other two a breather. As our starter and best post defender, we’re just dead in the water.
All 4 teams have exposed our interior defense like I’ve never seen. When you can’t defend layups and can’t rebound, you give up open threes and offensive rebounds. Everything breaks down when you can’t moderately defend the post. Wow… down two centers is crazy.
But… we won and we won with toughness. Ezra, we love you.
Colin Smith has to get out of his comfort zone and realize if we need 25 from him, he is capable because he is. He needs to go into games with the mentality that he’s going to score 30 every night and he’ll get over that hump. He’s been great though, but he has more in the tank.
Evan Taylor is starting to rise.
Paul Lewis is about to break out. Great interview with him post game, sounds like a great kid.
JRT is close…. Not there yet, gets lost occasionally on defense still.
Isiah West needs to take some legs out of his shot. It’s gross, he gets too low and takes too long to get it off and it creates too many moving parts at the line. As good as he was on the floor, he just about cost us the game at the free throw line.
Tasos needs the bigs back. He had a rough game but he’ll make some huge shots for us.
Stack said Dort is likely back for Las Vegas and possibly VLube. Dort for 8-10 minutes or so. Said Tyrin was moving better starting yesterday but sounds like he may not be back until the following week.
Huge win, enjoy it, fellas. Haters can be mad, the rest of us know that we needed that win and we got it.
We have 15 games against the top 45 KenPom teams so we will have a boatload of great chances at wins. We avoided disaster tonight.
