So I'm reading ESPN.com and they have a headline saying Vanderveer ties Coach K's wins record...
And I'm like, is that their new coach? Did he tie Coach K's first year win record? So I click on the article and there is some old woman on there hugging a large younger woman in basketball jersey. I read the photo caption and apparently they are trying to say a women's basketball coach tied Coach K's record for all time wins.
WTF
These are two completely different sports with different rules, different sized balls played by people of different genders with significantly less athleticism and even less parity within the sport (a few try, most can't afford to subsidize to compete).
This is so weird to me how ESPN is trying to trick a certain group into actually believing the sports are the same and therefore the records should be accounted for the same way.
I didn't read the article but they did get the page click, it's just so dishonest.
Are there people out there that will say VanDerveer tied Coach K's record and one more win beats it? What do the record books say?
