First off, congrats to Drake, that is exactly who I thought they were.
Second, that officiating crew neutered Vanderbilt and propped up Drake all night long. Lots and lots and lots of fouls that went uncalled. If Drake is allowed to take the body, they’re a top 10-15 team. Tonight, they were allowed to take our body all night long. Jason Edwards was knocked to the ground 3-4 times with zero fouls being called. We had a bunch of “blocks” where they mugged our legs and body. It was a terribly officiated game, is what it is.
We shot it too poorly for it to matter. Drake got the breaks in terms of bounces, lots of elbow in the back offensive rebounds. That’s a well coached team.
For us, make more shots, make more free throws, and box out better. It was a perfect storm of bad things happening to us and self inflicted wounds.
Drake is a tourney team, we will not be a tourney team if we play like we did tonight.
