go with JM
Rationale:
1) while shurmur may be the qb of the future, he needs a good line and a good set of receivers. Given we don't have that at this point the offense becomes one dimensional. This is in no way a negative on Kyle, but the state of our offense right now doesn't allow him to showcase his talent.
2) given the lack of playmakers and offensive line, you have to have the threat of a dual threat qb. JM is our only dual threat qb.
3) yes, with JM, there is a lot more downside, but who cares. Our only chance to win is if he goes out and plays the game of his life. The more he is a threat to run the more the linebackers have to respect that which will open up passing lanes. Can JM make good decisions? That remains to be seen.
4) Let's roll the dice and try to win this thing. I would rather go down swinging but with a chance of hitting a HR (win) then just go with a conservative one dimensional offense. Take the restraints off of JM and have some fun!!
Again, this is not negative about Kyle but just being honest about the current state of affairs.
We have the D to win Saturday if the offense will provide the defense with 17 points (and the special teams doesn't mess up which is a whole different topic.)
I guarentee Butch is very nervous about this game as there is massive downside to his rebuilding plan with a loss, than there is upside from beating a VU team that you are heavily favored against.
