Obviously, an early season encounter between IU and VU with virtually the entire season to play out after this tournament cannot be tabbed as "crucial" or "vital", etc.
However, if these two teams do meet in the 2nd Round, I think it's an early season measuring stick for the Dores. In my mind, it will confirm whether or not we have "stepped up" in play (even though IU is far from an elite team). IU can play offense, although, similar to "historical" VU teams also does not rebound very well.
Crean is under pressure, obviously, and a loss to VU will only feed the fans who are growing impatient with their current coach.
