Corbin and co. just landed yet another commitment from a top 100 player in the c/o 2026 this evening. This brings us to 7 top 100 commits (the most we've had since 2022) and the will give us the 3rd ranked class in the country behind only LSU and Texas. Before anyone gets all up in arms about how they're all going to be drafted and won't get to campus, only 1 of them is projected to be drafted in the first or second rounds. With NIL now becoming prevalent in college baseball as a tactic to get people on campus (and Corbin finally using it), anything beyond that begin to favor the colleges.
Blankmeyer and King are doing a phenomenal job in their first years here. Keep in mind this year is unique because baseball players used to commit 3 to 4 years before graduating but now they cannot even be recruited until after their sophomore years, so they were really starting from scratch. They've seemingly adjusted to the new rules seamlessly and are both getting better results, and recruiting positional versatility much, much better than Baxter was (we're going to have competent corner outfielders, yay!). Excited to see if the new staff can impact the current team in an equally significant way.
