The cameras don't lie. Thousands and thousands of empty seats by the 6th or 7th game of the season for the past few years. I am guessing that the NFL instructs the networks not to pan the upper decks, as that what show entire sections completely empty. Poor product, year after year, leads to 1000's of empty seats that are paid for, but go unused.
But NFL football is such an economic boon to a city, it must be worth billions just in free advertising alone! I know these arguments well because I fell for most of them when I lived in Nashville in 1996.
(I can't recall the last time I heard an NFL fan use Nashville in a context such as, "The Patriots play a big game this Sunday in Nashville," or, "The Monday night game is in Nashville this week." It's always Tennessee Tennessee Tennessee, yet another way that Bud snookered all y'all/all of us.)
