But I am proud to announce that my son, Matt Lyle, who played Ultimate Frisbee at VU (class of 2004), where the accomplishments include defeating UTjr for the first time in anyone's memory, has signed a professional contract to play for the Houston Havoc of the American Ultimate Disc League.
Matt, obviously, continued to play ultimate post graduation. He's played on multiple national champion club teams, and one international champion. Last year he made the US National team for the 2022 World Beach Ultimate Championship (cancellled due to covid, bion), but the team was kept together for this year's championship, which will be in Huntington Beach in October.
The Havoc is an expansion team, and will play a 12 game schedule starting April 29.
At 41, there's a good chance that Matt is the oldest player in the league.
