I just watched my recording of the game. I was out doing errands with the family when people started messaging me that we were doing okay. I predicted that we probably rushed out to an early lead, showed some grit, then had some plays go against us, had some controversy, and then would lose in the second half. My friends and family all responded with a “uhhh . . . yeah that is exactly what is happening.” Wish I had been wrong, but many of us have seen this script too many times.

Historically our team usually pulls off at least one or two decent showings where we compete with a top team, only to lose at the end. Under Johnson we won a few of those, and under Franklin we won several more. Under Mason we have won a precious few of these, but we can and should win more of these type of games. I’m hoping today is not the high point of our team’s competitive spirit.

It seems that a lot of the fandom is pretty down, we really need to win one of these big games to give people hope again.
