***Vanderbilt is still looking to add an additional running back to go along with Rocko Griffin in this year's recruiting class. DJ Lundy remains a top option, but West Virginia and Virginia Tech seem to be in the driver's seat with him at the moment. The Commodores are keeping tabs on local Gallatin (Tenn.) product Spencer Briggs, who is having a breakout season. Briggs just picked up offers from Tennessee Tech and Tennessee-Martin, but power five programs like Kansas and South Carolina are also showing interest in the 6-foot, 200-pound product. Running backs coach Tim Horton and Devin Fitzsimmons will be at Gallatin's game on Friday night to evaluate Briggs in-person.

***Episcopal (Tex.) 2021 offensive guard Luis Chavarria told us this week he hears from Vanderbilt regularly (they were his first P5 offer) and talked with Cameron Norcross on the phone on Tuesday. The three-star prospect is planning to visit West End later this fall when the Commodores host Kentucky. He also has early offers from Syracuse and SMU early on with Wake Forest, Texas Tech, Colorado, and Notre Dame showing interest.

***Bishop Dunne (Tex.) 2022 QB Alex Orji received a couple of new offers this week from Minnesota and Texas Tech to go along with early offers from Baylor and Arkansas. He is listed as a wide receiver, but currently plays quarterback for his high school. Vanderbilt has yet to extend an offer to the younger Orji, who was on campus for the Commodores' season opener against Georgia. However, I'd expect Vanderbilt to eventually offer and they'll obviously have a leg up with Alston and Anfernee already in Black and Gold.

***We caught up with Huntsville (Ala.) 2021 DL target Tyler Bence this week, who was on campus this past weekend for the LSU. Vandy likes the 6-foot-3, 270-pound prospect as a versatile lineman that can play inside and outside along the defensive line. Bence picked up an offer from Vandy over the summer and has a good relationship with Jovan Haye and Tim Horton. His only other offer at this point is from UAB, but Louisville, Stanford, Kentucky are other power five programs expressing interest.

***Here is a look at the recent prospects Vanderbilt extended offers to the last few days:

***It will be a light day of visitors on campus Saturday with Northern Illinois in town:
- Michael Hawkins, 2022 TE/DE, Lexington Catholic (Ky.) *target*
- Reece Jesse, 2021 WR, Hopkinsville (Ky.)
- Tyler Macon, 2021 QB, East St. Louis (Ill.)
