There have been so many negatives, and I'm not trying to sugar coat them. But I have seen a few things I really loved in the first two games. And since no one else outside of this community will likely point them out:
-- DeAndre Woods: This guy is living up to his potential early. He has good hands, seems to run great routes, and I see him becoming a threat when we get into goal line situations. That big 4th down catch two weeks ago and another good game this week have really got me pumped about him.
-- Stephen Weatherly: When our D was playing well under Shoop, we would make plays like he made Saturday. Those two TFLs where he smeared the UGA RBs were beautiful. He was also so eloquent in the post-game radio interview. He's a real positive.
-- Punting: I know, the punt return ruined us. But man, can Openshaw punt. The distance and hang time were phenomenal, and you could see him getting more comfortable from game 1 to game 2. The miss on his third FG attempt stung and really hurt us in the end, but it hit the upright. UGA's guy missed two. Overall Openshaw has really showed me something, and he's still young.
-- DB coverage: we are just more aggressive in our coverage this year. We aren't getting picked on at the spot opposite McGaster, so you have to give Herndon credit for making that spot his own. I just assumed it would be Bell or Ferguson, or even Sheffield, so Herndon taking over was a surprise and so far has been a decent one.
