2024 defensive end Chima Chineke, an intriguing recruit out of Plano East (Tex.), will be stopping by West End to visit with the Commodores today.

The 6-foot-5, 230-pound defensive end out of Plano, TX. sat down with VandySportsDotCom to detail his interest in Vanderbilt ahead of his official visit.

Chineke said that the Commodores got involved with his recruitment earlier this year. During the spring, the coaching staff stopped by to watch him practice and offered him in April.

"I'd say they started a bit early this year," Chineke said. "During spring, they got to stop by and see me practice. They offered me in late April after that practice."

Chineke said that he's gotten to know Vanderbilt assistant coach and defensive ends coach Jovan Haye and assistant coach and defensive line coach Larry Black over the course of his recruitment with the Commodores.

"Mainly Coach Black and Coach Haye," Chineke said. "I love how involved they are with me. I love how fun Coach Black is and how much he wants to see me grow as a player under their program."

Chineke said that he's flying into Nashville today for his official visit with Vanderbilt. He said that after his official visit with the Commodores, he plans to visit Kansas, Texas Tech, Iowa, Oregon State and Oklahoma State.

"I'm actually flying in today for an official visit," Chineke said. "I want to see how their defense plays along with what my development plans look like for me. After Vandy, I plan on visiting Kansas, Texas Tech, Iowa, Oregon State and possibly Oklahoma State."
