2024 cornerback Alvin Williamson Jr., an intriguing recruiting target out of Steele (Tex.), stopped by West End this past weekend for a visit with Vanderbilt.
The 6-foot-1, 180-pound recruit out of Cibolo, TX. sat down with VandySportsDotCom to detail his interest in Vanderbilt following his visit to West End last weekend. Williamson, who was officially offered by the Commodores on May 11, said that Vanderbilt has been involved in his recruitment process for about a month now.
"Felt great," Williamson said. "I was very excited to see they had interest in me, and they have been recruiting me for about a month now."
The 2024 target said that he connected with Vanderbilt defensive coordinator Nick Howell and assistant coach and defensive backs coach Dan Jackson, adding that he learned a lot from being around them during his visit.
"Coach Jackson and Coach Howell," Williamson said. "I loved their personalities. They're great people and their knowledge of the game is amazing, I learned a lot."
During his visit with the Commodores this past weekend, Williamson said that he was accompanied by his teammate Dontae Carter, a safety on the roster of Steele (Tex.). Williamson said that what stood out most to him about Vanderbilt was their honesty and passion for success in both academics and athletics.
"This past weekend and I'm excited to head back," Williamson said. "I think what stood out the most was their honesty and passion for excellence from academics to athletics."
After his visit to West End, Williamson revealed that he currently has one other visit set up with Texas Tech from June 9-11.
