While Vanderbilt's top offensive tackle targets currently appear to be Brandon Walton and Coy Cronk, the coaching staff are keeping their eyes on a few other prospects. Most notably, Braden Kopp out of Houston Christian (Tex.) and Tom Killilea out of St. Thomas Aquinas (Kan.). Both are expected to visit Vanderbilt when they host Missouri the weekend of October 24th.
Kopp noted that he's been in contact with Coach Lightner a lot of late and Vanderbilt really likes his upside and athletic ability at 6-foot-6, 280-pounds. Kopp is also a very talented basketball player at Houston Christian as well, so he's very agile for his size. He currently has offers from Army, Penn, and Columbia and is also hearing from Rice, Colorado, Louisiana, and Houston as well.
Killilea is of the same mold as Kopp, his highest profile offer is from New Mexico to along with the likes of South Dakota State, Colgate, Cornell, and others. However, in-state schools Kansas and Kansas State are showing interest in the 6-foot-6, 270-pounder as well.
Both prospects told us they are highly interested in Vanderbilt and of the two, I could see Kopp eventually landing an offer.
