Football Taking podcast questions for Luke Wyatt

The podcast is presented by Dr. Jody Jones, DDS.

The guest line is presented by Michael Kendrick of The Kendrick Group. Michael is a local carpenter and a lifelong Vandy fan. He builds bookshelves, cabinets, picture frames, furniture and made-to-order items, including a display case for my prized Dale Murphy jersey. I have seen Michael’s work and he’s a true craftsman. If you’re in the market for custom woodwork, give Michael a call at 615.830.9458.

Today’s mailbag is sponsored by Sutherland & Belk, a family owned injury law firm. If you or a loved one has been hurt in an accident, give Taylor or Russell a call at 615-846-6200 to see what your rights are and if they can help.

I'm doing this at 10 Monday morning.

FB Recruiting News and notes: Oct. 31st

Happy Halloween everyone

Would classify Nicholson as one of Vanderbilt's top in-state targets in the 2024 class. He has picked up recent offers from Tennessee and Florida State. He was at Tennessee over the weekend, but told me he'll return to Vanderbilt this weekend for the South Carolina game.

Off topic OT: best brewery near Cool Springs/Franklin

I'm coming to Nashville this weekend to help my elderly mother with some household chores. She lives in the Cool Springs area, and I'd like to visit a nice brewery in the area Saturday night. Last time we drove to Mill Creek Brewery. This time I'd like to stay in the Cool Springs/Franklin area if there's anything good there. I just like exploring new breweries and trying different beers. Any suggestions are appreciated! Cheers! 🍺🍺🍺

My apologies for the sponsors (Sutherland & Belk, Jody Jones DDS and Michael Kendrick of The Kendrick Group) for not having their reads on this one. I have tried probably 8-9 different times to upload the audio file and they were either blank or didn't upload. I don't know if the interview file was somehow corrupted or something was bad with the podcast server but I did manage to upload the interview file to YouTube, which you can get above.

I've uploaded over 1,000 podcasts, I've never had this many problems with one episode before and it defies explanation so anyway, sorry for everyone's trouble and I hope this will suffice.

Interesting matchups in the SEC on November 5

Next Saturday will find South Carolina invading Vanderbilt Stadium, UT competing with Georgia between the hedges, and Alabama taking in the night time environment at LSU. But, I think these games are just as intriguing in some ways.

Florida at Texas A&M: Texas A&M has now scored more than 24 points twice this season. In the opening win against Sam Houston and in last night's loss to Ole Miss. The Aggies are dangerously close to falling out of bowl eligibility. Which may be the least of their concerns.

Liberty at Arkansas: I believe Hugh Freeze just signed a contract extension which is code for "I'm willing to entertain any and all Power 5 offers." Beating the Hogs on the road is yet another way to advertise his candidacy.

Auburn at Mississippi State: So, what color tie does John Cohen wear to this game? Auburn has lost eight of its last nine games against SEC teams, falling to two games below .500 for the first time in a decade. After the loss to Arkansas yesterday Auburn coach Bryan Harsin said, "Losing can be contagious and that's scary." You think?

CFB: Pass interference

Upon watching CFB non VU today one observation needs to be made.

There is pass interference on every deep ball.

Both the WR’s and DB’s are hand fighting and jersey tugging but 90% of the time the DB gets called. On plays I think are obvious nothing is called in the next game I watch. The exact stuff occurs and every little touch gets called. I have no idea what pass interference is anymore. It’s become subjective apparently and it makes it really hard to enjoy a game now. It’s almost like once the ball is in the air you have a 50/50 shot of getting a call now. Stupid and ruins the game.
End of rant.
