UAB vs FAU

UAB is actually a 2.5 point favorite. A couple of things here

FAU is the better at large team with NCAA, at least that is what everyone thinks. If so will be bad news if UAB wins for bubble teams

If predictive metrics are so important, why is FAU supposedly in and UAB not because predictive metrics is higher on UAB than FAU. And if that is not the case VU should easily be in.

Pack Bridgestone.

Commodore fans, it’s time. If you aren’t a far drive from Nashville and aren’t busy today at 2 o’clock you NEED to be in Bridgestone cheering your heart out for this team!!!! This arena should be FILLED with black and gold!!! LETS GO BABY!

Another issue with NET

I think I have figured a potential reason for one of the bigger issues with NET. It seems very resistance to change. It is hard to move up or down in the rankings. I think this is part of the issue with efficiency metrics. There are thousands of possessions in a year. The denominator is so large, it is hard to change these much late in the year. Compare that to wins, where you can change your winning percentage pretty dramatically with a few wins in a row or a few losses. Teams are just not changing in the NET

Beggars can’t be choosy, but

We all want VU in (). So I think we’d all just be happy to get them in no matter where

But them playing now their 3rd game in 3 days, beyond hoping they get in I’m hoping they get in beyond play in game. And if they get play on game hoping for Wednesday and not Tuesday. I feel like physically and emotionally they will need time to recoup. A Tuesday or even Wednesday game may be tough for them to get their legs back and emotions back to have that edge needed to win tourney games.

I’d even pick Friday over Thursday

But if choice is play in game or not in, there is no choice.

Show me a better backcourt!

I think that this answers the question someone posed a few weeks ago about who's more important, Robbins or Manjon.

And, don't get me wrong, I loved Robbins and the way he plays, he was a freaking beast. I wish he could still go.

But......

If it had been Manjon that had gotten hurt instead of Robbins, we don't beat UK in Rupp AND the SECT. His play has been outstanding!

I've heard my entire life, you win in the postseason with great guard play. Well, show me two guards playing better than Manjon and Lawrence! You can't do it, they're on a roll!!

Anchor Down, beat A&M today!!!

Gasaway ESPN+ - Work to Do

Good article summarizing slow start and Alabama loss and bad luck in past years, ie Garland injury. Says we have work to do but I like this blurb:

This discussion of a potential bid for Vanderbilt has rapidly progressed from the theoretical to the practical. That's what happens when you put together a 10-1 run capped by a seven-point win over Kentucky in the SEC quarterfinals. The game marked the Commodores' second victory over the Wildcats in 10 days, and the first one occurred at Rupp Arena. In any discussion of Vanderbilt's tournament prospects it will be said this team's NET ranking is very low. It is indeed, though no lower, one might add, than what Rutgers used to get an at-large a year ago. The question all along in this discussion has been whether the committee will view that NET ranking as a disqualifier. If not, the Commodores' results-based metrics are on par with those of bubble teams seen as safely in the field.

Great Article in the Athletic

Stack talking about the country needing to know QMB, Ezra and Wright not just because they are basketball players but because of who they are as people…

I’m done. I’m sold. I’m all in. Gimme the season tickets next year.

Off topic BADH again: It's NOT the best 68 (And it shouldn't be)

Until the NCAAT includes every team*- which makes the season meaningless, except for seeding- it will be the best (somewhere in the) mid 40s (due to overlap for conference champions). The only thing worse than your P5 team missing the tourney because of Monmouth is entire conferences which would never have a chance.

*which either CM or Kevin, among many others, advocated for

Liam Robbins availability post-Kentucky

Talked to Robbins one on one tonight in the locker room for a minute, here's what he had to say. Asked about the injury last night and he said he doesn't yet know the timetable.

On Vanderbilt career:
"It's hard to answer because its not over, I might not be playing but its not over, I'm right here with these guys, I just tweeted out they're a bunch of dawgs, I've always worked hard but the coaching staff and the players here, they take it to another level. To perform at Vanderbilt academically to have our coaching staff push us to the limits like that. Everyone is just a bunch of dawgs, that's what I'll remember about it, everyone works extremely hard, extremely humble people, I'm extremely grateful to be a part of it."

On who got twitter check marks tonight and officiating:

"I think Tyrin, QMB, Colin, Tshiebwe was fouling the crap out of him (Smith) and they werent calling it, Jordan, Ezra. I think five. Whole team is a bunch of dawgs."

On the All-SEC honors he recieved:
"It's an incredible honor, I appreciate them selecting me, I obviously strive to do my best so for them to select me and award me for those things is an incredible honor, but a lot of it goes to my teammates, I'm not in that position without them, a lot of those awards are assigned based on winning. You need to have a team to do that and our team is one of the best in the nation."

On the message to Vanderbilt fans the rest of the way:
"Just believe in us and rally behind us because we're about to go far."

Lee Dort availability post-Kentucky

Got to check in with Lee Dort for a second tonight, great guy.

On playing against Tshiebwe tonight:
"I mean I've always been excited to play against him but that was my first time coming off of the injury, I think i did pretty well against him but I got two cheap fouls in the game."

On freshman year:
"I mean its been up and down, I've been injured for a month so its hard but i think it was a good freshman year for me."

on what he improves
"I think I want to improve my body and become more mobile and then on my game I want to work more on my jumpshot."

Dort says he feels comfortable and like he's back to full health.
