VU-Auburn

Unable to watch last night but without knowing the result, just watched the replay. Good win for us. Enrique 0-4 but has to be considered one of the offensive stars of the game. What a player !! And in a game where you really, really don't want to use up pitchers, Patrick comes through in a big way. Looked a little tired maybe in the ninth--but hung tough. Good for him. Now, let's win tonight and keep rolling. (especially against that smart-aleck Coach and the Gators) Anchor Down and stay up late.

Schreck

Earlier in the season, one of the things I noticed and loved about RJS was his attitude - he was always smiling (even when he wasn’t hitting a bomb). Of course, he was also raking.
For the past several weeks I noticed RJS isn’t smiling much.
IMO, RJS is overthinking it / taking it too seriously, hence the slump. He just needs to remember this is a game he loves, enjoy the moments, and have fun. The bombs will follow.

Louisville Baseball Coach

Louisville Cardinals head baseball coach Dan McDonnell is very upset with the commitment of the school to their baseball team. After a disappointing ACC season which crushed a promising 16-1 start and a top 5 ranking, McDonnell took shots at the athletic administration for not following through on major upgrades to the stadium and training facilities that were promised him years ago.

We play the Cards annually each May in a mid-week game in The Battle of the Barrel. McDonnell is known to be close with GOAT Corbin. Louisville has been to 5 CWS under McDonnel, and have only missed the NCAAT for the second time during his tenure.

The 6-foot-1, 180-pound recruit out of Cibolo, TX. sat down with VandySportsDotCom to detail his interest in Vanderbilt following his visit to West End last weekend. Williamson, who was officially offered by the Commodores on May 11, said that Vanderbilt has been involved in his recruitment process for about a month now.

"Felt great," Williamson said. "I was very excited to see they had interest in me, and they have been recruiting me for about a month now."

The 2024 target said that he connected with Vanderbilt defensive coordinator Nick Howell and assistant coach and defensive backs coach Dan Jackson, adding that he learned a lot from being around them during his visit.

"Coach Jackson and Coach Howell," Williamson said. "I loved their personalities. They're great people and their knowledge of the game is amazing, I learned a lot."

During his visit with the Commodores this past weekend, Williamson said that he was accompanied by his teammate Dontae Carter, a safety on the roster of Steele (Tex.). Williamson said that what stood out most to him about Vanderbilt was their honesty and passion for success in both academics and athletics.

Women's Swimming

I'm watching the NCAA Women's Swimming & Diving Championships while waiting for the Vandy baseball game to start. I see outstanding performances from many schools comparable to us, e.g., Stanford, Virginia, Duke, including some Olympic athletes.

What will it take for us to join them? It seems like "the degree, the city, the SEC" would be an effective pitch to these athletes. Why not Vanderbilt?
