Iowa takes down undefeated South Carolina in WBB

Just watched the Iowa Hawkeyes beat South Carolina to make their first ever national championship game. Caitlin Clark was phenomenal with 41 points and 8 assists, and ice in her veins as she was 4/4 on key free throws in the final minutes. Hope to see Iowa beat Kim Mulkey and LSU on Sunday for the national championship.

MLB: Bases are now bigger

You can probably count on one hand the number of people who did not know this already, and I’d be one of them, but I heard on the radio yesterday that the bases for MLB are now bigger. One reason is for safety.

While not on a scale of the DH it seems like more than just a small change. I guess it’s no big deal.

Did college baseball follow suit and change the size of the bases as well?

Updated SEC baseball stats

This is through last night, and it is SEC games only. I KNOW THAT WE HAVE PLAYED A WEAK SEC SCHEDULE SO FAR, but I choose to revel in the current stats. I have listed the team categories in which VU is the leader. For context, I have also listed the second place team, and for kicks, I have listed UT stats.

BA: VU - .366; LSU - .306; UT - .239
ERA: VU - 3.15; KY - 3.34; UT - 5.29
Fielding: VU - 1.000; A&M - .984; UT - .948 (last)
Slugging: VU - .673; LSU - .534; UT - .395
OBP: VU - .461; LSU - .414; UT - .336
Runs: VU - 91; LSU - 67; UT - 39
Hits: VU - 94; LSU - 86; UT - 57
RBI: VU - 86; LSU - 64; UT - 37
HR: VU - 21; SC - 19; UT - 9
Total bases ; VU - 173; LSU - 150; UT - 94
K's (offensive): VU - 51; MSU - 52; UT - 79
Hits allowed: VU - 45; KY - 47; UT 65
Runs allowed: VU - 21; KY - 25; UT 51
Walks allowed: VU - 16; Bama - 17; UT - 23
Hit batters: VU - 2; SC - SC - 5; UT - 10

Factor in that VU has played 7 SEC games, and UT and LSU have played 8. I am aware that tougher tests are ahead, BUT AS OF NOW, I AM PRETTY DARNED PLEASED WITH THESE STATS. And did I mention that VANDY IS THE ONLY TEAM UNDEFEATED IN SEC PLAY?
I'll be back at the Hawk today. It should be a beautiful day for baseball. Go Dores!
