Hunter Dickinson: 'I got less than six figures at Michigan'

Underscores the issue that the NCAA as created. He's honest about it. Simply a dollars and cents decision. Again, I think players should be compensated, but there are no guidelines.

"The people hating on me would leave their job right now for a $10,000 increase," Dickinson said. "I got, at Michigan, less than six figures. I got less than six figures at Michigan for the year."

My biggest problem with NIL

I have tons of concerns around NIL, no-sit transfer rules, and Covid 5th years, but out of all of them what I think is the biggest problem I have is rewarding disloyalty. Don't overthink my choice of that word (disloyalty), not trying to slander folks, but what the current environment encourages is every player to put their name in the portal at the end of every season and just create a bidding war for their services. Anyone who doesn't isn't maximizing their value.

There is a chance you put your name in and no one picks you up, so not 100% of players can do this. But how do you pay the players who are good AND want to be there a lot and are totally loyal to their teammates? How do you deal with the locker room knowing one player is making $1M and another player making $0 (but still free college tuition/food/living space)? At least in the pros everyone is making something. How do you make the average player feel valued and thus motivated to put their body on the line every Saturday?

Lots of good things about NIL, too, but this is a problem for me.
