Not only is making this NIT a pretty big deal for this particular team, due to its overabundant youth, the nice late-season surge we had, and the experience we'll gain from even one extra road game on the West Coast after a lot of other folks are done playing, but this is only the 25th time in Vanderbilt basketball history that we've made a post-season tournament (12th NIT; 13 NCAATs*).
We've been playing hoops for 115 years, but the NIT (the oldest post-season basketball tournament) has only been around 78 years.
Sure, it's not as big as VU making a Bowl game, or the NCAAT, or the CWS, but it's nothing to sneeze at.
